The scene is built on a background incorporating line engraving and several enamel treatments, including opaque, transparent and opalescent enamel. Patek Philippe’s 5089 work required extremely fine gold wire and numerous colours to construct the cloisonné scene.

The sapphire-crystal back is protected by a hinged dust cover engraved with “PATEK PHILIPPE 175e Anniversaire 1839–2014,” linking this particular execution to the manufacture’s 175th-anniversary commemorative program.
